Green Globe for Best Western Kaiserhof

By Andrew Gibson

The Best Western Premier Hotel Kaiserhof has been the first hotel in Austria to be awarded the Green Globe Certificate. The hotel is based in Vienna and Anton Christian Greiderer, the Director of the hotel explained that he was very proud to have won the award especially with it being the first property in Austria to have done so. He explained that the hotel provides sustainable services to their guests and protecting the environment. He went on to thank his team who have helped with getting the reward.

The Green Globe Certificate is an internationally recognised award and so it is something which means a lot to all hotels that get it. The CEO for Green Globe Certification, Guido Bauer explained that the hotel has a rich tradition and is beautiful having been ranked as one of the most modern hotels when it was built in 1896. This was because it had running water in rooms, central heating, electricity and an elevator. He explained that the hotel is now again a pioneer of its day because it works hard to reduce the water and energy used, has a good waste management system and sustainability management.

The hotel gives guests details of its green procedures in its brochure and a sustainability management book. The rooms have information about air conditioning, which turns off when windows are opened. It also has details of local public transport and bikes as well as electric cabs. It also offers discounted public transport tickets and sells tram line tickets too.
