Thompson Hotels is starting its brand expansion to the UK with a hotel in London. It will be opening the hotel on the 1st February. The new hotel will be called Belgraves and it is positioned in the Belgravia neighbourhood in central London. It has been designed by EPR Architects and interior has been done by acclaimed designer Tara Bernerd who is British.
The property has 85 rooms and its aim is to blend Britain and American themes by having an American Bohemian attitude but good British hospitality. The rooms all have a double bed with quality linen. The en-suite shower rooms have white and grey marble fittings and marble floors. There are robes by Sferra and Penhaligon bathroom amenities. The rooms also have LCD flat screen televisions and iHome docking stations. The hotel will have an 80 seat restaurant, with menu inspired by Mark Hix travels around the world, a fitness centre and a library bar. The bar has a large cocktail menu and a smoking garden with cigar menu. The king rooms have larger beds and a choice of having a shower or bath. The penthouse has a separate guest bathroom, a living area and wet bar. It also has a terrace, second bedroom and working fireplace.
The property was created by Mark Hix who is a UK based chef and food writer. The portfolio also contains 60 Thompson in New York and Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles. It was in 2011 when the company joined up with Joie de Vivre hospitality which increased its US presence.
