Orpheus Reopens in the Great Barrier Reef

By Chris Bradley

Orpheus is a resort situated in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It has been closed for an upgrade, but will be opening again to guests on the 3rd March 2012. It will provide visitors with the ultimate luxury and a fantastic opportunity to escape.

It is 80 kilometres from Townsville, accessed by a 25 minute flight. The resort is set on an island which is 11 kilometres and has beautiful coastline which has some National Park and a World Heritage listed Marine Park. It has the Great Barrier reef’s most diverse and spectacular reef and it is not necessary to travel offshore to experience it. Guests will often find themselves swimming with Manta Rays, Humpback Whales and Green Turtles.

The resort has suites and rooms as well as villas with a bar and restaurant as well as an infinity pool. It only provides accommodation for 34 guests which means that they get perfect peace and quiet as well as great service. The newly refurbished accommodation offers natural colour walls with white linen. All rooms have Base iPod docks and Daintree Essentials products. They all have private terraces and panoramic views. There are two dining areas to choose from, either inside or outside and the menu changes daily. There is even the opportunity to request a private dinner for two on the pier. The resort has come a long way since it started up as a few huts along the beach in 1930 and now still has charm but with luxury as well.
