The fact that the Spanish hotel industry has shown a growth of more than ten percent during 2011 is a positive sign for everyone in the tourism sector. It shows that people are going on holiday and spending money again.
The data was released by Pegasus Solutions who also found that booking for leisure and business combined were up by 4% compared to the year before at the end of 2011. The biggest growths were in the first quarter before political problems and the Euro problems saw a more hesitant market. The large growth was in the popular spring and summer months but there were also increases in rates and corporate bookings.
The vice president for revenue generation management at Pegasus Solutions, Rainer Gruber explained that there have been good prices and marketing by travel providers and hotels in Spain which have helped keep the destination desirable. He explained that people seem to be booking further in advance now when taking Spanish holidays which is a sign of their confidence. Pegasus has a new mobile product on offer to help hotels to be able to advertise things on their website as well as other promotional information to mobile phones. With the importance of mobile phones in marketing for all businesses, this could be something which could help many in the tourism sector who are looking to do better in the future. The company also offer web services and they will be demonstrating these offerings at their stand at FITUR.
