Free In-Flight Shopping for American Airlines Travellers

By Chris Bradley

Customers travelling on American Airline flights will be able to get free 30 minute shopping sessions. The offer runs through to the 2nd January 2012 and any passengers travelling on a plane which has Wi-Fi equipment installed will be able to get 3 minutes of free Internet access which will include special shopping discounts and exclusive offers from the Gogo Fly & Buy Holiday Store, which will include top branded products.

American’s vice president of marketing, Rob Friedman, explained that customers will be able to shop while they are on the plane, meaning that they will not have to fight through the crowds and they will be able to spend their flight time wisely. They will also be able to get deals on Wi-Fi passes. They can get a two-pass holiday pack which they can use until 3rd January for $14.95 or $19.95 for three passes and they can use them on any day until the promotion ends.

It is possible for passengers to see what Wi-Fi access a flight has, 24 hours before departing on the company website by looking up the flight and selecting the flight number or departure airport. The boarding pass will also have a Wi-Fi symbol on it, if you can get it on that particular flight; this includes mobile boarding passes as well as the paper versions collected at airports. American Airlines was the first airline to launch Internet access in 2008 and it has offered Wi-Fi to customers flying within the United States ever since.
