The Crystal City Marriott has just finished being renovated. The hotel is undergoing big changes to its public areas and meeting space. The owners of the hotel have invested millions of dollars in getting it looking better. Marriott Hotels and Resorts all have a new design where the lobbies have work, dining and socializing areas and this has been incorporated into this redesign.
The general manager of the hotel, Scott McClinton, explained that this is just the start of things for the hotel, they understand customers are looking for something more stylish and comfortable and that they are hoping old guests and new guests will enjoy the new facilities and look. The lobby now has modern technology but it is still relaxing. There are textured walls and earthy tones with leather chairs and marble floors. The walls have reclaimed wood and stone and there are recycled materials such as hammered metal drums and natural tiles.
The reception desk area should make it easier for guests to check in and there are now three dark wood pods to make things move easier. There are also electrical outlets and free Wi-Fi in the lobby and these can allow guests to use laptops in the area. There are some areas which are more private or public spaces. There is also a new restaurant and bar area which has pub classics and comfort food such as soup, burgers, salads and sandwiches. There is also a cocktail menu, bottled beers, wines and micro brews available as well.
