Wold Championship Madness As Superstar Usain Bolt Disqualified

By Andrew Gibson

The World Championship Athletics is being held in Daegu, south Korea. The 100m is one of the most exciting and eagerly awaited finals by most. Usain Bolt was hoping to go for another world record, but was disqualified for a false start in the final. The rules were changed by the IAAF as in the past, a false start resulted in a warning, but from this year, it is an instant disqualification and their disqualification of Bolt was the first time they had applied the new rules.

Bolt was said to have been disappointed, but did not want to dwell on the result. He said he needed to move on. He will be keen to prepare himself for the 200m, which he also will be in competing in. He will be taking place in the heats on Friday, where he might be hoping to improve his 19.19 second time that he achieved in the Berlin championships in 2009. It was during these championships when he ran 9.58 seconds in the 100m and got his reputation as the Sprint King.

The 100m race was won but Yohan Blake, who is Bolt’s Jamaican training partner and he finished the race in 9.93 seconds. This is the 13th World championships Athletics and it is being held in Daegu, which has also hosted sports events such as the 2003 Summer Universiade and the 2002 FIFA World cup. It is the first time the IAAF World Championships has taken place in mainland Asia, despite being held twice in Japan.
