Compare ski apartments, chalets & holiday accommodation in Saas Fee
If you like having great scenery to look at when you are on holiday, then you will not be disappointed with Sass Fee. It is said that holiday rental accommodation here has some of the best views in the whole of Switzerland. It is surrounded by 13 peaks and is situated in a V shaped valley which also boasts the Feegletscher glacier. There is an ice pavilion on it which is full of ice sculptures and information about glaciers. Another attraction to this village is that it is car free and so the perfect place to get some peace and quiet.
Despite the visitors who rent ski chalets and apartments as their accommodation in the village, it has not changed over the years and so gives you a great idea of what it is like to live in a traditional village. It has small shops and bars so there are nice places to visit. Of course it is the winter sports that dominate the area and there are a great selection of pistes, some of which end right at the village itself.
Skiing can be done all the year round on the glacier although it is important to stay inside the piste markings. The skiing condition can be quite tricky which is why it is recommended that only more experienced and intermediate skiers use it. There is a 5km toboggan run as well as an ice climbing championship.
There is more than just winter sports to take part in as there are a great deal of trails to walk along, some of which may need experience of climbing. These can be done at any time of the year. There are also indoor swimming pools, steam baths, saunas and tennis courts and in the summer there is the opportunity to para glide.
If you want to go out of the village then Zermatt is close by and is famous for its ski resort and is great for advanced skiers. The temperature in the winter is around freezing but in the summer raises to around 16 degrees with lovely sunshine.
