It is worthwhile to take a day trip to the nice island of Tabarca. From Santa Pola you can get a boat to the island. The island's length is only 1800 meters and it has a maximum width of only 400 meters. There is a small village here which still has its defensive walls intact. The nature on the island is quite lush, but around the island there are ideal places for divers and snorkelers. The capital of the province is Alicante, a beach resort with an international airport located in the heart of the Costa Blanca. The city of Alicante has a diverse industry, busy port, vibrant nightlife, excellent cuisine, sparkling white sandy beaches, a beautiful sea and lots of cultural-historical architecture - in short, an interesting city with plenty to offer. On the Costa Blanca you will find cities such as Benidorm, Murcia and Valencia, all of which are certainly worth a visit. You will also find many cafes where you can enjoy delicious seafood, paella and sangria. For sports enthusiasts the Costa Blanca has a lot to offer as well. There are many hiking and cycling routes which carry you past the most beautiful places in the area. You can enjoy a number of water sports activities here like water-skiing, diving, para-sailing and banana-riding. Nature lovers can visit the national park of Cabo de Gata or the Palm in Elche. In Torrevieja there is a large water park where both young and old can have fun for an entire day. In short, the Costa Blanca is an ideal holiday destination for everyone!
