Fort William is a historic Scottish city situated in the highlands. It is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and combined with friendly people it is a fabulous location for self catering holiday rental accommodation. By renting holiday cottage accommodation in this area you will find yourself in a location surrounded by rivers, mountains and lochs with the most amazing unspoilt countryside in between.
This rural setting is something which offers an opportunity for relaxation and for some, an experience that they have never had before when renting holiday cottages. Despite it being unspoilt, the area still has plenty to offer. You can of course spend your time wandering around and exploring and just resting, but there are activities on offer as well. You will be able to fish or go hiking or play some golf. Or if you are more adventurous you could go quad biking, kayaking, white water rafting or mountaineering.
It is a great destination for people who like sport and is an important rock climbing area. There is also a great trail called the Great Glen Way between Fort William and Inverness and you can walk all or some of that if you wish. The weather is not predictable and although quite mild most of the year it is often wet with the warmest weather in June and July. Visiting in July or August gives you a great opportunity to view the Lochaber Highland Games which are played nearby and involve many traditionally Scottish sports.
