The Aberdeen and Grampians have some of the most unspoilt coastal areas in the UK with many fabulous coastal cottages. There are small fishing villages along the wild coast as well as cottage accommodation and marinas. It is a great way to find a fantastic place for a holiday rental because it is unspoilt and spectacular and the area also offers a lot to do with golf, sailing or fishing on the agenda.
With all of that peace and quiet many people love to rent a cottage on the coast for their holiday accommodation. However, if you are more adventurous then you may also like to take part in the surfing, windsurfing, canoeing, scuba diving or kite surfing that are available. Despite the beaches not being crowded, they are certainly not lacking in entertainment.
There is also plenty to do inland with the mountains offering opportunities for walking and horse riding as well as mountain biking along the trails. You can even book up for a riding holiday as there are so many stables in the area. There are also lochs and rivers where fishing is very popular. If you like history then you will be interested in visiting some of the many castles and monuments in the area such as Craigievar and Kildrummy and an Aberdeen location would put you in the best position for these.
Of course, golf is also very big in Scotland and you will find that wherever you choose to take your holiday, your rental accommodation will be within reach of at least one golf course as there are 70 in the area including the one with the highest tee in Scotland – the Royal Aberdeen Golf Course. There is also the Malt Whiskey trail to follow which takes in eight distilleries and is not only interesting and informative but especially good for anyone who is a whisky lover.
In the winter time the area is popular with skiers and snow boarders as the snowy mountains in Glenshee is the most extensive ski resort in Scotland with all abilities catered for. If you prefer city life then Aberdeen could be for you as it has great shopping, lovely restaurants and a number of events and festivities running through the year which are worth investigating.
