Argyll is an area which is a fantastic location for a holiday because it offers so much to do. There are water sports, nature walks, golf, fishing and cities to explore. If you contact the tourist office, you will be able to find out about trails and routes and places to visit as well as permits and information about staying in the area. If you decide to rent self-catering cottage accommodation in this area, you will find that it is a fantastic base, where you can enjoy luxury and privacy and easily be able to explore the area.

Many of the cottages are in remote locations where you will be able to explore nature and relax while you admire the amazing views of the landscape. Many people choose to take a walking holiday where they can explore the countryside on foot, getting fit, having fun and discovering everything it has to offer at the same time. Others choose to use a mountain bike or a horse to discover the area as it gets them a bit further as they can cover the ground more quickly. Some people even choose to do mountaineering in the area and visitors from all over Europe come to enjoy the area.

Many find that it is the changing light in the evening which makes everything look particularly spectacular. Many people choose to walk with a fishing rod and try to catch trout as there are good chances of getting some especially in Loch Lomond or one of the many rivers and the Isle of Mull, Lorn and Oban in the sea. You may even spot otters, dolphins, puffins, whales, seals or whales.

This area is the home of golf and so if you want to play while you are staying in self catering holiday rental accommodation here then it will be easy to find a course as there are 55 of them. The city of Sterling itself is also worth a visit. If you like city breaks then you may choose to rent an apartment there or if you prefer nature then you may rather just visit it for a day trip. Sterling offers the Sterling Castle which is located on an extinct volcano and is a great place to discover the history of the town as there are the old town's cobbled streets and the William Wallace monument.
