Lazise is a walled town on the shores of Lake Garda and just 25km from Verona. It is a charming fishing village and getting popular with visitors who want a traditional experience when they are on self catering holiday. The village is growing with regards to restaurants, bars and more villas and there is a varied range of apartment accommodation to cater for this increasing demand.
However the town is still unspoilt especially the old town which is preserved. The town walls and castle certainly add to the medieval charm of the place and the Villa Bernini Park which contains the castle is great for a picnic. There are also some old churches, San Nicolo and San Zeno which are worth a look at.
Although tourism has taken over from fishing as the main trade in the town, there are still plenty of boats to watch in the port. If you are staying in October then you may like to visit La Pergolana just 1km away which has a honey festival. Most visitors also like to visit Verona and explore the romance and architecture of the place as well as the fashion. The city is considered to be the most beautiful in Europe and has some lovely Roman buildings to observe.
