Achill is the largest of the Irish islands and is 57 square miles of stunning scenery. The island is linked to the mainland by the Michael Davitt Bridge so it is easy to access. The island has five blue flag beaches which are popular with water sports enthusiasts, but there are always secluded little spots tucked away if you want to get away from it all. There is some lovely walking to be had on the island as well as cycling and just driving round to admire the superb countryside. The island has a rich history waiting to be discovered, with a deserted village at Slievemore or the Tower at Kildavnet. This is a beautiful little island that makes it the perfect getaway for a holiday.
The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.
