Mayo is based in one of the most historical, natural and cultural areas in Ireland which is why it makes it such a popular place for holiday rentals. Many people choose to rent holiday cottage accommodation in this area and then explore the traditional area where many of the locals still speak Gaelic and therefore you can sample something of the very traditional lifestyle of the area.

The landscapes are also spectacular and you will want to see as much of it as you can. The coastline is also fantastic and so you may get a chance to explore the sandy beaches or even paddle in the sea if you are brave!

The views are amazing, stretching across the rugged cliffs to the Atlantic Ocean and although the weather is not likely to ever really get warm enough for swimming, there are some water sports on offer. In fact the whole area is great for sports and leisure facilities and so if you want to fill your days with activity you will easily be able to do so. There should be a lot of opportunity to wind down and relax as well, with so much time spent in peaceful rural setting, you cannot help but do so.
