Kenmare is one of the most visited areas of Ireland and it offers plenty of cottage accommodation for visitors. It has such wide appeal due to the lovely scenery and the interesting history. Ross castle is one of the most notable as it dates back to the 1400's and also the monastery at Skellig Michael, although as this UNESCO world heritage site is on an island, you will need a boat to get a closer look. With temperatures being quite changeable it is always wise to pack warm clothes and keep an umbrella with you at all times as rainfall is high. However, this part of Ireland is on the Gulf Stream and so temperatures are higher than in most other areas of Ireland.
