Self catering holiday accommodation, caravans and chalets in Kenmare
Kenmare is one of the most visited areas of Ireland and it offers plenty of cottage accommodation for visitors. It has such wide appeal due to the lovely scenery and the interesting history. It is part of the Ring of Kerry which is a 180km trail that takes hikers past coasts and mountains with the most amazing views. The town itself is charming and is under the Macgillycuddy Teeks which is a mountain range that has the tallest peaks in Ireland as part of it.
Most holiday rental accommodation in Kenmare is within easy reach of these and so not only do they offer great views but also an opportunity to explore them. As well as walking you may choose to ride a horse or if you want a completely different type of exercise, you could play golf. The coast also offers a range of water sports and so there is plenty to do for everyone and something to suit all tastes.
The town of Kenmare offers everything that a visit could need. It has a selection of pubs and restaurants offering traditional food and drink. It is an ancient market town and there are many indicators of this despite it being so popular. Around the town there are plenty of areas worth visiting, especially the dramatic coastline and the abbeys and castles.
Ross castle is one of the most notable as it dates back to the 1400's and also the monastery at Skellig Michael, although as this UNESCO world heritage site is on an island, you will need a boat to get a closer look. With temperatures being quite changeable it is always wise to pack warm clothes and keep an umbrella with you at all times as rainfall is high. However, this part of Ireland is on the Gulf Stream and so temperatures are higher than in most other areas of Ireland.
