Many people choose to head to Dublin when they visit Ireland, whether they stay there for their entire trip or choose to spend a short amount of time there. Being the capital city there is certainly a lot to do and if you want an active holiday with plenty to see and learn then renting accommodation here would be ideal. You will be spoilt for choice with many traditional cottages and city centre apartments to rent.
There are many places to visit and the most popular tend to be Dublin Castle, the Natural History Museum, and The Guinness brewery, the National Gallery, Trinity College and the Chester Beatty Library. However, if museums and galleries are not your thing, then there are lots of other things to do. You will find that there is a fantastic selection of shops and so that could be a great place to start. Then there are the pubs, restaurants and bars which are always popular.
You could also visit other places in the area. Galway is a city of the west coast and has a selection of festivals there at certain times of the year. Then there are pubs and restaurants, bars and clubs, museums and galleries as well as theatres to go to. There is also the Collegiate Church of St Nicholas and Lynch's Castle which are historically interesting. You can also travel from here to the Aran Islands which have many ruins of churches and forts.
If you want something more active and rural then Connemara may be more your thing. It has a beautiful coastline and opportunities to explore on foot, horse or bike. You can go slightly inland too and experience the lakes and mountains, woodlands and the national park. You can also take part in sailing, swimming, surfing, diving, fishing, canoeing and snorkelling. You can even have a round of golf or take part in some bird watching.
