Sa Pobla is a small town in North Majorca that is home to many traditional cottages and rural farmhouses. There are also more modern properties with luxury villas and apartment rentals in Sa Pobla with swimming pools. It is situated just at the base of the Sierra de Tamuntana Mountains and is therefore extremely pretty. Many people choose to stay here in self catering holiday rental accommodation because it is quieter than the coastal resorts and also has a completely different atmosphere.
It is inland but it is still within easy reach of the beaches and so you can still explore these should you want to. The holiday rental homes are located within the town but also on the outskirts and so you can decide whether you want to stay in a town centre apartment in a busier built up area or rural villa somewhere more peaceful and quiet.
You will be based near to the irrigation crops which are grown in this area of the country as well as the S'Albufera national park. This is a wetland area and many people choose to explore it by bicycle. You should get to see a great deal of wildlife with many water fowl to discover. The town itself has a museum which has an art gallery and a toy museum inside which is fun for families to visit.
There is also Placa major in the town which is a site with interesting architecture. If you do not intend to drive on your holiday, you will be pleased to know that there is a train line which connects this place to the rest of the island.
Sa Pobla is known for its beautiful landscapes as it has mountains, forests and countryside which are lovely and offer great views from your holiday rental accommodation. It is about 10 minutes drive from the coast and therefore set away from the crowded resorts which attract the most visitors. There is a lot to do at the beaches such as water sports and swimming and there is even scuba diving for those who are more adventurous. This is a great place to rent beach villas with pools and sea front apartments.
If you are not feeling so athletic you can take part in golf or fishing or even tennis. There are lots of walking and cycling tracks which are great for exploring the surrounding area. You can even go as far as the lovely Tramuntana Mountains and explore those on foot or even try some mountaineering. The views from this area are fantastic and you will also be able to visit the Lluch monastery if you wish.
Nearby you may like to visit Alcudia which is a historic town with a lovely port, pavement cafes and a market. Puerto Alcudia is nearby which also has a lot to offer visitors including good night life. The climate is warm in the summer and many people choose to visit then, although it can make a great winter break as well because the self catering holiday rental accommodation is still available and the temperatures do not normally fall below ten degrees.
