Manacor is located in Majorca and is famous for its artificial pearls and furniture. There is a street market which draws crowds and the town was where tennis player Rafael Nadal was born. The place has some really great beaches which is why it is becoming popular and most of them have the blue flag. It is an area which is growing in interest from visitors and so it could be a good idea to visit soon, before it changes to a big tourist area like some of the other coastal resorts. There is also a selection of factories in the area where you can tour and find out about the pearl industry.
There are also historical sites such as the remains of the Son Pereto chapel and S'Illot Son Vaquer, a Talaiotic village. You can find out more about the area at the Municipal Archaeological Museum. There are also seafood restaurants along the coast. If you want to travel around more then you can easily hire a car at Palma airport when you arrive and you can explore more of Palma as well as Magaluf which is known for its night life and perhaps some of the quieter towns too. The area has a good supply of sunshine with hot summers but it can get freezing fog in the winter time.
